I planted six Tahina spectabilis almost a year ago, and thought that would be enough Tahinas. But never say “never”! As it happened, when Nick was here with his smaller excavator last month he also dug up quite a bit of soil and muck from where the driveway meets up with the street. And he put all of that in a neat little pile, just to the left of the entrance. And this is what it looked like. Since I have my six Tahinas a bit further in, but fairly close to this mound, the idea of adding a seventh Tahina on top of this newly created mound appealed to me.
It was easy enough to level off the top and digging a hole was a breeze! Putting this little sad looking Tahina into the hole and back-filling didn’t require much of an effort either. I figured a rock as a backdrop would be a nice touch. Now, getting the rock in place, that DID require a bit of an effort! This photo is looking out towards Pomaikai Street.
And this photo is taken from the street, looking in. The larger mound right behind this newly created mound actually does have a Tahina, which is very visible from the driveway. I just need to clear out the rest of the weeds as well to make it visible from this angle!
And an overall view, again from the street, with the “new” Tahina right behind and above the red cone. And the other six are semi hidden among the weeds, to the left of the truck. Even though they are all very visible when viewed from different angles. All six have been weeded recently!
